The Stronger Together conference is being held across what is now called Alberta in the traditional territory of many nations including the Blackfoot, Cree, Dene, Beaver, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, and Tsuutʼina Nations as well as the Métis People of Alberta. We are grateful to live, work, and learn together on the lands of Treaties 6, 7, and 8, and Métis regions 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. We recognize this land as an act of reconciliation and appreciation to those whose territory we reside on.
We would also like to acknowledge that our attendees are joining us from many diverse locations, in Alberta and beyond, and we likewise honour the traditional owners and caretakers of those lands.
At this conference and in our work beyond this conference, we commit to supporting and celebrating our local Indigenous communities, and to breaking down down institutional barriers to make our libraries equitable and accessible to all.
